"This rather civilised cafe is located on the top floor mezzanine within Barker & Stonehouse at Teesside Park. I visited just after opening, at 1020 on a Tuesday, and the place was already buzzing with activity. The table service was quick and the waitresses were polite. The breakfast makes a nice change from what is usually available in the area - a greasy spoon this is not! Everything was homemade, including the baked beans, ketchup, and the lorne sausage. Two fried eggs were cooked to perfection and overall the food was beautifully presented, hot, and very tasty. The peaceful setting of the mezzanine was isolated from the noise of the shop below and the exterior glass walls allowed in ample sunshine to brighten my morning - very relaxing. A welcome contrast to your typical “hole in the wall” type establishment. I have a big appetite and the portions were more than adequate. The only downside was the price - £15 for one breakfast and a coffee - although I feel this is quite fair for the high quality of food and service received."
"Superb from start to finish. Food is unreal and the staff are excellent. Highly recommended."
